AI Is Here to Stay

Embrace it!

If you're intimidated by AI, I have sad news for you. It's not going anywhere. The best thing you can do is embrace it. As I continue to learn more, I realize it's not so bad when used properly. Unfortunately, my first introduction to the AI movement was in my classroom. I started noticing that more an more pieces of writing were not authentic. Some of my students failed to realize that I know them. I know how they write. I know their tone, word choices, etc. When I started seeing vocabulary words that they could not define nor pronounce...RED FLAG ALERT! That made me become more AI savvy. I had to come to the realization that it's not going anywhere and that my students are going to use it. The key is to give them instructions on how it can be used.

As adults, we need to be careful about how we let AI invade our space. Basically, we have to monitor what we take in. In case you haven't noticed, videos do not have to maintain their authenticity in order to be posted on social media. A person's face can be put on someone else's body, people can be turned into cartoon images and the scariest observation of all is that dishonest people have figured out how to be you! The best thing we can do is learn about AI and embrace it. Learn how it can benefit us professionally as well as how it can be used to help and not cripple our children academically. Let's face it folks, AI is here to stay!
