Make History!

You've heard the quote that has been attributed to Mahatma Gandhi that goes, "Be the change you wish to see in the world", right? Well, it's time to be the change. Our ancestors worked hard during their lives here on earth to do the work that God charged them to do. Wherever they were in the world, they got it done. Their only job now is to pray for us to do the work ahead. As referenced in scripture (Revelation 5:8), the prayers of God's people become incense in golden bowls before the Lord. Why not give them something to pray about?

Our country is ever-changing. Our struggle seems never-ending. But, we know who holds tomorrow and we know who holds our hands. Greater is He who is within me. Family, we are standing on a solid rock! Affirm this for yourself and grow from there. No more suffering from imposter syndrome! We have witnessed where poor leadership leaves people: in bad places, spaces of non-productivity. We can't grow in bad soil. We can't build on quick sand. Our ancestors survived being kidnapped from another continent across an ocean. They survived being stripped from their loved ones, their culture, and their memories. They survived slavery and Jim Crow. They ushered in the Civil Rights Era and now we are in the middle of the Black Lives Matter Movement. We are still fighting for voting rights, education equity, pay equity, healthcare, women's reproductive rights, LGBTQ+ rights, etc. Our causes are just. We don't want anyone else's anything, we want our own. We've earned that much.

If you have the skills to lead, please check your skill set, your temperament, your support system, and run for office. If you know that leadership is not your thing and you know someone who you think would be a great leader, try to convince them of their potential to do good in the world, and support their candidacy. Be a great, reliable supporter. Share the things that you believe they do well with others. At the same time, know your lane, stay in it, and ride that sucker to the end! Commit. Show up. Be present. We all have a role in this world. Make history. Teach. Preach. Advocate. Heal. Sing. Dance. Run. Create. Build. Nurture. Grow. Love.

Always,
