Suit Up!

Here we are in March of 2025, and things are absolutely cooking. Before we get to all that, though, I do hope that the holidays were good to you. Mine were somber, but that’s because while I was unplugged, I was still observant. I watched how people moved this season (even my loved ones) and I believe that while some were cautious, others were reckless. Everyone was more authentic, which is what normally happens when you relax, which is good. It helps people like me be reminded of who we all truly are. People say things that, even though they may not have meant to say, we needed to hear. Personally, I am grateful for lessons learned and relearned, because confirmation is everything. I saw this meme on the socials (Pinterest, to be more exact) and it put things into perspective.

It reminded me to remain intentional about protecting my personal space and peace of mind. Setting boundaries is important, so I invite everyone to do as Tony Stark said, “Suit up.” I’m going to continue to do what I do, which is to be authentic and write what I hope will be medicine to those in need of it. AND I am going to repel toxicity from my environment. I am in the process of purging my personal spaces, my devices, and blessing people out of my life who cause me discomfort. I get enough of that from the world, so I certainly don’t need the call to be coming from inside the house.
At the time of my writing, we had winter weather hard-hitting parts of the US, fires raging in Los Angeles, one of the finest US presidents to ever hold office being honored at the time of his passing AND at the same time, counternarratives hitting the airwaves debunking climate change and questioning the fitness of first responders and their on-the-ground leadership. You can’t make this level of stupid up. It really is an absolutely crappy timeline.
So, I’m not doing it. I’m not saying that I don’t care, I’m saying that I will not (or cannot??) care more than I typically do. I don’t have it in me. What will I be doing? I will be suited up in the whole armor of God, prayed up and asking for assistance from my ancestors and angels assigned to me, and letting the BS move past me while I stay in my lane. Like a baby in a womb, I will be nice and warm, safe from harm, feeding on good vibes, and growing. To me, it feels like we are going to be reborn into another era, so it is important to be well nourished and ready for what awaits us in the new world. My suggestion is for everyone of good character to do the same. Don’t spend your energies on lies and ignorance, of which there is plenty. Instead, be the force for change and good whenever you can. Be the light in dark places and the warmth on cold nights. There are people who will need you. Don’t try to share your light with those who can’t wait for you to lean in close so that they can blow it out. You know who I’m talking about:
those who love to compare themselves to you
those who love to make you feel small
those who tear down anything you build
Let them go. Your work was never for them. If you look around and cannot find your place of refuge, maybe that means you should be creating one. It’s true that “if you build it, they will come,” kind of like moths to a flame. Be the light, because there are dark days ahead. Don’t believe me? Check out the headlines (I don’t advise reading too deeply into the articles, though - remember, we’re supposed to be protecting our peace)!
